Research : Me As A Consumer Of Music

How and when do I listen to music?:

I listen to music through my bluetooth speaker which enables me to listen to my favourite music whereever I am, I also listen to music through ear phones so I can isolate myself to relax. Usually I listen to music in the mornings and evenings,  this is because in the morning it motivates me ready for school, whereas in the evening it relaxes me and I am able to do come out of the learning zone into a more relaxed home zone.

Do you buy physical/digital music or do you download/ stream music in other ways?

I do not purchase any type of music, I own Amazon Prime but I do not use it for music. Usually I listen to music via YouTube as it's free and very much easy to get too, I have considered on getting Spotify but I don't see the point when the music is for free online.

What genres of music do you like listening to and who are your favourite artists?

I can listen to any type of music, my least favourite would have to be metal/grime and I'd say my top are Electronic/pop and Indie rock. I'm not so much for the singing more of the instrumental but the singing can also be very powerful and motivate me as a person. My favourite artists at the moment are Alan Walker and Coldplay. I have been a fan of Alan Walker before he became famous and listened to his previous music before 'faded' which gained over 1 billion streams on YouTube. I also find Coldplay very motivational, I know all the lyrics , the type of music I can feel too and sing too.

Why do you like these genres/ artists?

These genres just fall in to my mind and is all I look for on youtube as that is what I am already familiar with and used too, Alan Walker can make me have goose bumps whereas Coldplay is very enlighten and happy.

What has influenced your choice of music as you have grown up?

In childhood I played a lot of video games at a very young age whilst playing with 4 of my brothers, so whenever we played a video game we will put music on and usually it will be electronic or rock, and it motivated me whilst playing the video game. In 2007  and my brothers received and Xbox 360 which we became addicted too and still have the same one, but the music on the video games were also electronic and fell in to one of them genres I began to like alot which is why electronic is one of my favourite. With Indie rock my mother used to blast it out a lot and I started to know all the songs and I began singing a lot to it and one band she listened to was Coldplay.

What type of genres do you not like listening too and why not?

I don't like listening too grime, personally it doesn't interest me and I guess the culture that hangs around with that culture can disturb me, however there are some songs which can be accepted but as a whole I don't really find it interesting. Heavy Metal isn't my type also, I feel as if there is no type of feeling involved with it and it just seems someone is screaming down a microphone.
